Many believe that the solution to today's crisis in the economy is to throw money at the problem. Is this the correct approach when confronting a situation beyond our control? Obviously the government does not intend to hand large sums of money (almost $ 700 billion) to government officials and say go on a shopping spree. But, isn't this essentially what the U.S. Senate and the President George W. Bush are doing. Our government votes tomorrow on a landmark legislation that is supposed to buy out bad mortgages and help salvage what little remains of the once big mortgage broker giants on Wall Street. It is in my opinion that this is not a logical approach to such a diverse and multifaceted issue. So why is it that we the responsible, hardworking, and dedicated American taxpayers should be held responsible to bear the burden of those who were not responsible? Why should we have to help those that wanted to bite off more than they could chew? Is it our fault that these huge mortgage brokers lent money to happy go lucky American's who were in no position to purchase a $250,000 home on a $45,000 a year budget. The answer is simple and I will personally not answer it. But the question I want answered is simple. Why should the citizens bear the burden? If I fall on the ground I pick my self up. Why can't these companies and citizens do the same? Is it our fault that our governments system of checks and balances is not being observed. Where are washingtons watch dogs. They are asleep at their posts. I believe that we as citizen's should demand more fiscal responsiblity on behalf of our government to help mediate situations that are within our realm of control. Once again please feel free to add or post comments as you may deem necessary. God Bless and take care.
